x64 and 4.3.3

As i have posted allready in an update you need to remove the 64bit files from world of warcraft before patching it to 4.3.3.

For Windows that means to remove the following files from your World of Warcraft folder:

Wow-64.exe
Battle.net-64.dll
MovieProxy.exe

Under MacOSX just remove “World of Warcraft-64.app” or “World of Warcraft-64″ in your World of Warcraft folder.

Then start the patching process by launching the game and wait for it to finish.

Then download the new 64bit client from the US Tech Support Forum. This version – like last time works for US and EU – both for Windows and MacOSX.

Again, unzip the archives and copy the files to your game folder and make sure that in the Laucher “Game Options” 32bit is not selected:

Lets talk about Transmogrification

It’s been some time since transmogrification is available and players seems to enjoy the feature blizzard added to the game. From the statistics we see that many players simply transmog some tier or pvp set and fitting weapons.
For those that don’t want to look like everyone else and for those that are not sure what set will look best on their toon there are several toolt to help you:

There are two major sites that will cover all your needs out of the game. Both sites let you browse through all the available items for your class so it is easy to find the fitting pieces for you own transmog set:

There is also a Transmog section on wowhead that has all sets (tier, pvp and color-matching sets) and they have an experimental color search that will help you to find colormatching pieces for your gear.

In game you have the addon MogIt. Again you will find all items, sets, color-matching sets as with the sites but comfortable in-game. MogIt has a database with all items, a seach for color-matching items, a 3D preview for all items in a tooltip and some additional databases for mounts, pets and companions.

This should cover all your transmog needs.

World of Warcraft x64 working for US and EU

As of today the 64bit client of World of Warcraft is working for US and EU. Its a seperate download and there is a link to the Windows and Mac version in the US forums. Just download and unzip the file to your World of Warcraft folder, run the Launcher and check that under Options – > Game Preferences the “Launch 32-bit client” is not selected or grayed out:

Enjoy the game in 64bit – eventho the difference might not be that big for you. Mainly loading time, performance with many addons running and multimonitor/ultra high resolutions setups should be improved.

Note: To be able to run WoW in 64 bit you need to have a 64bit system and a 64bit Windows – Mac is 64bit by default. The find out if your Windows is 64bit, go to Control Panel -> System and Security -> System and check the system type:

Update: EU Forum has now a blue post on this as well but they link to the same files as the US Forum.

Update 2: Apparently you need to remove the 64bit files in order to update to 4.3.3. I’ll update the post as soon as i know more about the 64bit 4.3.3 client.

Update 3: A blue post states that the 4.3.3 64 bit client will be available separately again when 4.3.3 is deployed. Keep an eye on the 64bit threats for US and EU.
